Our story
The Vormair TG-650 wasn't born at a drawing board, but in our own orchard. Spring frosts threatened us, too, and year after year we faced the same question: how do we protect the crop safely, without the nightly defense grinding down both people and money?
Frost protection inherently requires presence — the grower has to be out in the orchard. The only question is what they have to do there. With many methods you have to work actively all night long: lighting bonfires, refilling heaters, moving equipment — and that takes the manual labor of several people, not only by day but through the night as well. It's costly, and after a few consecutive frosty nights it becomes physically unsustainable: you simply can't push people the same way for night after night.
We were looking for a solution that lifts this burden off the grower's shoulders: one where the system runs stably and reliably, and requires not hands-on labor but merely supervision — so that even a single person can handle the night's duties, across several consecutive nights. On the market, we couldn't find one that truly fit the bill.
So we decided to build it ourselves. We started from our own needs as growers, drawing on our earlier experience in pellet firing and industrial automation — with one goal: to create a machine we would confidently trust with our own orchard on a frosty night.
Where we come from
Two worlds meet in our team: the everyday practice of fruit growing and the engineering, data-driven mindset of industrial systems. This duality shapes the way we develop the TG-650.
The grower's side comes from running our own orchard day to day. We know exactly what needs and problems arise around frost protection, because we face them ourselves every spring.
We've worked in pellet manufacturing and in operating and developing high-output pellet boilers — so we know the combustion side thoroughly, and we know what to ask of the machine.
Nearly a decade of industrial automation experience stands behind us. We've learned and understood a wide range of technologies, so we quickly grasp the essence of such systems and can find the answer to the problems that arise.
The detailed combustion engineering of the boiler was entrusted to a specialist in the development of firing equipment; translating the grower's needs, the measurements, and steering the system as a whole are our own work.
How we develop
Throughout development we've taken countless measurements — and we'll keep doing so. They are the basis on which we set the next directions of development.
From the measured data we don't just develop: we can also give growers well-founded guidance on the ideal way to operate the machine.
We regularly attend frost-protection events and follow the professional articles published on the subject — these, too, shape the features of our product.
